Pink Valley’s production Zivilisierte Länder is a blend of theater, performance, and experiment – it is discourse, ritual, and parody at the same time. The collective works in German, English, and Spanish, engaging with personal histories and social tensions, and experimenting with empathy as a phenomenon to be aesthetically activated. The piece responds to the rise of right-wing populism in Europe and represents an attempt to counteract it.
The performance moves from inside (Ding Dong Dom) to outside (Pampa), continuously asking: What does it mean to be civilized? Where do we draw boundaries, where do we build bridges, where do we find connections between places, times, and people? How do we create empathy, and where is it at risk of breaking? Through encounter and creative engagement with this essential theme, Pink Valley generates genuine shared experience.
