What would happen if we suddenly woke up in a non-binary world?
How would we define ourselves in a reality where every element of the cosmos, whether living or nonliving, was of equal importance? Would we be able to lose in this utopian space, fundamental characteristics of our colonial and patriarchal reality such as the craving for control and domination?

Through a ceremonial choreography in which „we“ embody another species, we will have acquired renewed empathy for the beings with which we share the world. In “The Agency Dance” we will have joined Nadin, a woman who transformed into a gorilla as part of an attraction called ‘La Monga’ in the chilean amusement park „Fantasilandia“. The performance is a reinterpretation of the sexist and colonialist approach of the original version, and invites the audience to be part of a ritual that will have healed our relationship with other entities, whether animate or inanimate, and we will have restored the inter-species interconnectedness.

Original performance by Val Germain created in the frame of FuturePerfectLand ,curated and produced by CCPA (Curatorial collective for Public Art): Yael Sherill, Lianne Mol, Julia Kawka & José Délano, with the kind support of HauptstadtKulturFonds.

Second season funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe as part of the DRAUSSENSTADT initiative.
